Comprehensive Handgun Education

This course includes easy-to-understand, detailed handgun safety instructions to provide you with the education and skills necessary to be a knowledgeable and safe handgun owner.

Whether you’re an experienced shooter or first-time handgun owner, this handgun safety course will prepare you to shoot safely and responsibly.

No live ammunition

Learn the basics of pistol shooting and firearm safety with our course. We teach the five fundamentals that will help you become a better shooter, how to load-unload and identify different types of pistols. 

Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety.

Additionally, students will complete virtual fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

A clean firearm is a reliable firearm, and proper gun maintenance is essential for any responsible gun owner. In our Firearm Cleaning and Maintenance service, our team disassembles your firearm for thorough cleaning to remove built-up carbon, grease, and grime out of the smaller crevices which make your firearm operate. 

All components are detail cleaned, lubricated, and inspected before reassembly to ensure it is not only clean but also safe to shoot.  Whether you shoot every day, once a month, or once a year, our service ensures you can depend on your firearm when you need it. 

Pistol Shooting private instruction is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. It is a traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end.

NRA FIRST Steps Rifle is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific rifle action type for classes of four or fewer students.

This course is at least two hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific rifle action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular rifle model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the rifle; and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense.

Our instructors walk you through a complete guide to understanding conflict-avoidance and situational awareness; home security and home defense; handgun, shotgun, and AR-15 basics; shooting fundamentals; the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a complete guide on gear, gadgets, and ongoing training.

This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific model shotgun at a moving target. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular shotgun model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the shotgun, and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting  FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

Our Basic Self-Defense Fundamentals course will teach you the skills you need when a situation turns bad. We teach the fundamentals of striking empty hand or with a force multiplier. This is NOT a martial arts course. Learn to protect yourself with effective techniques in a safe environment.

Size guide

Firearms training on a flat indoor range is one dimensional. We live in a 3D world where shooting, while moving and communicating can be a stressful and daunting task. In an outdoor environment these skills can be addressed. 1770 has a partnership with a private ranch in Bennett CO. The 1st and 3rd weekend of every month is designated for 1770 Armory.

The amenities include an archery range, three tactical berms, one 50yd berm, one 100yd berm and two classrooms. Range time is available upon sign up.
